Cristiano Ronaldo, five-time Ballon d’Or winner recently became the first active team-sport athlete to surpass $1 billion in career earnings.
He was in risk of being overtaken by the Oregon lottery ticket holder who got lucky in Saturday’s lottery draw – a person coming forward with the alleged winning ticket to claim the whopping $1.326 billion on Monday.
Currently the biggest lottery that you can apply for is MEGA MILLIONS with 280 million prize.

However, whether Cheng “Charlie” Saephan takes home the lump sum option of $621 million or decides to receive payments on a monthly basis over 30 years, Ronaldo can shake off the competition because either way the lottery ticket holder won’t receive the total $1.3 billion at least all at once.
Although, whether it’s $621 million or $1.3 billion over 30 years, the lottery winner definitely won’t be shedding any tears about not actually holding as much of a net worth at one time as Ronaldo does.
The prize money will be subject to Oregon state and federal taxes too, but either way, it’s a huge win and will set the winner Cheng “Charlie” Saephan up for life – if not multiple lifetimes.
The drawing for Saturday night’s lottery was initially delayed as after it experienced technical difficulties, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
As a result the winning numbers weren’t actually drawn until later on, with a ticket holder Cheng “Charlie” Saephan coming forward on Monday to claim the price.
Lottery Director Mike Wells said: “This is an unprecedented jackpot win for Oregon Lottery.”
The ticket is reported by Oregon Lottery as having been sold at the Plaid Pantry at 6060 NE Columbia Boulevard in Portland.
The store is also said to be set to receive a cool $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Oh and according to the lottery company, Plaid Pantry has sold other large Oregon lottery jackpot prizes including a $3.3 million Megabucks jackpot just last summer – so maybe it’s worth a visit?
